The AGK Group of companies has been around for a while now. Mr. Abdul Gaffar’s father was the one who kicked things off with his livestock farm back in 1977. Since then, the Group has added numerous subsidiaries under its belt including AGK Landscaping, AGK Green Resources, AGK Dairy Fresh and yours truly, AGK Cheese Factory.
Our new home and factory is located in Ara Damansara, in the state of Selangor. One of the many reasons we chose to set up the factory next to our headquarters, is so that we can monitor the products closely.
Our milk comes to us from a multitude of sources, and the milk we use will depend on the cheese we want to produce. Currently, the AGK Cheese Factory uses a mixture of fresh milk from our very own farm in Beranang, Selangor and Alor Gajah, Melaka in order to be true to the rich and authentic flavours of cheese.
We are closed for any tour at the moment. Feel free to get the info from our social medias.
We currently mainly produce a range of cheese from the pasta filata family (mozzarella, burrata etc.), but other varieties of soft cheese are also produced here.
Yes, all of our cheeses are made from pasteurized milk to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.
Yes, we do use a bit preservatives in our cheeses to maintaining the quality and shelf life of our products. Without preservative, there is no way any cheese can last over 14 days except the aged cheese
Cheese should be stored in the refrigerator at temperatures below 4°C). It is best to store cheese in its original packaging or wrapped tightly in wax paper or plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out.
The shelf life of our cheeses varies depending on the type. Generally, harder cheeses like cheddar and parmesan have a longer shelf life of several months, while softer cheeses like brie and blue cheese have a shorter shelf life of a few weeks. It's important to check the packaging for specific expiration dates.
Buffalo milk is known to have a higher fat, lactose, mineral, protein and vitamin content than cow milk. Research shows that while both milk are beneficial to us, buffalo milk has been known to support long-term bone health, provide a higher count of antioxidants, and reduce the risk of heart-related issues by lowering your blood pressure.
The levels of lactose in each kind of cheese varies, as well as how a person reacts to consuming certain varieties, hence, we cannot give a clear-cut answer to this question. Being lactose intolerant, however, doesn’t mean you have to give up eating cheese completely. The general rule of thumb is that hard cheese tends to have a lower lactose count compared to softer ones.
This can vary greatly depending on the kind of cheese you are making and what kind of milk you use. Typically, you would need on average about 10 litres of milk to make a single kilogram of cheese.
While customisation is not something we generally focus on, we are always ready to hear your ideas and concerns, and examine future collaborative work. Do contact us to discuss matters of this nature.
